❌ Myth: You should apply ice to a burn


✔️ Truth: Applying ice to a burn is a myth that can cause further damage to the tissue. Instead, you should put the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes. This will help significantly reduce tissue damage, hasten wound re-epithelialisation (healing) and reduce scarring. If you can, remove loose clothing and jewellery from the casualty, however it is very important not to remove anything stuck to the burn.
