First Aid at Work
Do you know your legal obligations under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981? This piece of legislation outlines the essential steps of first aid that employers must address.
Regardless of whether the injury or illness was caused by the work being carried out, an employer has a legal duty to ensure employees have access to immediate attention if they are hurt or unwell. First aid can save lives and prevent minor injuries developing into major injuries.
In order to determine workplace first aid requirements, an employer should carry out an assessment of needs. First aid provision should be adequate and appropriate for the workplace and should be available at all times.
